1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Mochi Dash ("the game", "we", Crafted Life) handles information when you play it on Android (package name com.solidtech.mochidash) or iOS (bundle ID com.solidtech.MochiDash).

Mochi Dash is a free game supported by ads, with optional in-app purchases. You do not need an account to play, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other contact details. Your game progress and settings are stored on your device.

To show ads and to understand how the game is played, the game uses software from other companies (listed in section 5). Those services collect some information from your device automatically, as described below.

You can reach us at the email at the bottom of this page.

2. Information collected

The game and the services it uses collect:

  • Device and advertising identifiers. Your device's advertising ID (the Google Advertising ID on Android; on iOS, the IDFA, only if you allow tracking), the identifier for vendors (IDFV) on iOS, and installation and app instance IDs created by the services below.
  • Device and network information. Device model and manufacturer, operating system and version, language, time zone, screen size, network type and IP address. Ad and analytics providers use the IP address to estimate your approximate location (country or city). The game does not ask for access to your precise (GPS) location.
  • Gameplay events. For example, when you open the game, start and finish a level, use a booster or get a reward. We use these to understand how the game is played, balance its difficulty and fix problems.
  • Ad interactions. Which ads were shown to you, whether you watched, closed or tapped them, and the revenue from each ad.
  • Purchases. If you buy something in the game (candy and power-up packs and a one-time “Remove ads” purchase), the payment is handled by Google Play or the App Store. We receive a confirmation of the purchase (the product, price, currency and transaction ID) so that we can deliver it. We never receive your card or bank details.

Global leaderboard

Mochi Dash has a global leaderboard. To take part, you enter a nickname. Your nickname, best score, the theme you were playing, your country and the time of your score are stored in our Firebase database, under a key made from your device's identifier (the Android ID on Android, the identifier for vendors on iOS). Your nickname, country flag and score are visible to every player of the game. Please do not use your real name or any other personal information as your nickname.

To show your country flag, the game sends a request to the IP geolocation service geolocation-db.com, which returns the country of your IP address. Only the country code is stored with your score.

Purchase records on Android

On Android, when you complete a purchase, we store the product you bought, your advertising ID and the install referrer (information from Google Play about how you found the game, for example the name of an ad campaign) in our Firebase database. We use this to measure which ad campaigns lead to purchases. Your advertising ID and the install referrer are only included if you agreed to personalised ads in the consent prompt; otherwise we store only the product.

Daily reward

To check the date for the daily reward, the game reads the current time from Google's public time service (time.google.com). This is a standard web request; we do not store anything from it.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, files, messages, microphone, camera, precise location, health data, or browsing history.

3. Ads and your choices

Mochi Dash shows banner ads, full-screen ads (some of them video ads) and rewarded video ads that you can choose to watch for an in-game reward. The ads are served through Unity LevelPlay, which picks an ad from Unity Ads, Google AdMob or Unity's own ironSource Ads for each ad slot.

Ads can be personalised, which means chosen using your advertising ID and information about your device and the apps you use, or non-personalised, which means chosen only from basic information such as the game itself, your device type and your approximate location.

  • Consent prompt. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the game asks you on first launch whether you agree to personalised ads and to analytics. If you choose not to, you still see ads, but they are not personalised, your answer is passed to the ad networks, and Firebase Analytics does not store analytics or advertising data about you. Your answer is saved on your device.
  • Changing your consent choice. To change your answer, clear the game's data (Android) or reinstall the game, and the prompt is shown again on the next launch. You can also contact us.
  • iOS: App Tracking Transparency. On iOS, the game asks for your permission before it lets the ad and measurement services access your IDFA. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, the IDFA is not shared and ads are not personalised with it. You can change this later in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
  • Android: advertising ID. You can delete or reset your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings (on most devices Settings > Google > Ads or Settings > Privacy > Ads).

The game is not designed for children and tells the ad networks so; see section 10.

4. How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • run the game and keep your progress and settings on your device, and deliver and restore purchases;
  • show ads, which pay for the free game, and limit how often you see them;
  • measure which of our ad campaigns bring new players and purchases;
  • understand how the game is played and improve levels, difficulty and features;
  • change game settings remotely, for example how often ads are shown, without an app update;
  • detect fraud, such as fake ad clicks or fake purchases, and keep the game secure;
  • comply with the law.

5. Third-party services

These companies process information for the purposes above. Each one handles data under its own privacy policy:

Unity LevelPlay, Unity Ads and ironSource Ads (Unity Technologies): ad mediation and ads. They collect device and advertising identifiers, device and network information, IP address and ad interactions. See Unity's privacy policy for players.

Google AdMob (Google): ads. It collects device and advertising identifiers, device information, IP address and ad interactions. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.

Firebase Analytics and Firebase Remote Config (Google): gameplay statistics, and game settings that we can change without an update. Remote Config only sends settings to the game; we do not send personal data through it. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Cloud Firestore (Google Firebase): stores the global leaderboard and the Android purchase records described in section 2. See Privacy and Security in Firebase.

geolocation-db.com: looks up the country of your IP address for the leaderboard flag.

Unity Gaming Services (Unity Technologies): signs the game in anonymously, with a random player ID that is not linked to you, and reads Unity Remote Config, which we use to tell you when an update is available. See Unity's privacy policy for players.

Google Play and the App Store (Google, Apple): process in-app purchases under their own terms and privacy policies.

We do not sell your personal information for money. Showing personalised ads and measuring ad campaigns means sharing identifiers and device information with the companies above; under some laws, such as those of some US states, this can count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information. You can stop it at any time with the choices in section 3.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

6. International transfers

The companies above may process information on servers outside your country, including in the United States. They use safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses where the law requires them.

7. Data retention

  • Progress, settings and your consent answer stay on your device until you clear the game's data or uninstall it.
  • Information held by the companies in section 5 is kept for as long as their own retention rules allow; for example, Firebase Analytics deletes event data after the retention period set in our project, at most 14 months.
  • Leaderboard entries are kept while the leaderboard is running, unless you ask us to delete yours.
  • Android purchase records are kept for as long as we need them to measure our ad campaigns.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, to withdraw your consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because the game has no accounts, we usually cannot tell which data belongs to you: when you contact us, tell us the game, your platform and your leaderboard nickname, or your advertising ID, and we will do what we can. For data held by the ad and analytics companies in section 5, you can also use the tools in their privacy policies.

Uninstalling the game deletes the data stored on your device.

9. Security

The game talks to the services above over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to our Firebase project is restricted. No system is perfectly secure.

10. Children's privacy

Mochi Dash is made for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13 (or under the minimum age in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EEA), and it tells the ad networks that it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the game and information about them was collected, contact us and we will help delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the game changes, for example when we add or remove a service. The date above shows the latest revision; continuing to play after an update means you accept the revised policy.
